I am a Physics student at NYU Abu Dhabi. I am interested in experimental physics and currently working on project MACHINA as a research assistant under the collaboration of the NYUAD Astroparticle Physics Lab, LABEC - INFN (Florence), and CERN, Geneva. Reach out to me through here!
MACHINA (Movable Accelerator for Cultural Heritage In-situ Non destructive Analysis) is an ion-beam analysis (IBA) system that uses 2 MeV pulsed proton beams to conduct elemental analysis of art works and other cultural heritage artifacts. This is a joint project with the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) and Opificio delle Pietre Dure (OPD). MACHINA uses the radio-frequency quadrupoles (RFQ) first developed by CERN to focus, bunch and accelerate a continuous beam of charged particles with high efficiency using radio frequency electric field.
